Get Your Glasses at the Library – UPDATE

AS OF FRIDAY, AUGUST 18 2017 @ 10:30am – WE ARE OUT OF ECLIPSE GLASSES

View the Eclipse at the Library –

  • Monday August 21st, join us at the library to view the partial Eclipse. The partial Eclipse will be visible in Walsenburg from about 10:23am to 1:16pm on Monday August 21st 2017. Prime viewing (84.6% covered) is around 11:48am.
  • From 10am to 2pm, watch NASA’s live stream of the total solar Eclipse.
  • We will have a few pairs of Eclipse glasses for use at the Library on Monday.
  • Librarians are building viewing devices and will be on hand to answer Eclipse questions.

Safely View the Eclipse –

  • Glasses provided meet the Transmission Requirements of ISO 12312-2, Filters for Direct Observation of the Sun.
  • NEVER look at the sun without special eye protection.
  • When viewing the eclipse, use eclipse glasses at all times when any part of the sun is visible.
  • Direct viewing of the Sun can cause permanent damage if the proper precautions are not taken.
  • Sunglasses do not provide adequate eye protection for directly viewing the sun.
