- Where does the weather data come from?
- The weather station is located on a hill on the North side of the town. The elevation of the station is approximately 235 feet above downtown. Full METAR and GEO data will be available soon.
- Who owns the weather station?
- The weather station is privately owned.
- How long has the weather station been on-line?
- The weather station was installed in January of 2006. Data from the weather station was made available to the library beginning in October of 2006.
- Can I access the weather station directly from my computer?
- No. The weather station is actually part of a private network with no access to the Internet. Special scripts are used to provide the weather data to the library web server.
- What type of weather station is it?
- It is a LaCrosse 2310 weather station. The wind and temperature sensors are mounted in permanent enclosures. The weather station itself is connected to a computer on-site that reads the weather station data about every 10 seconds and logs the data to the database server located at Spanish Peaks Information Systems.
