Spanish Peaks Library Building Expansion Project Wish List

First Floor

  1. Move the entire Children’s Section to the second floor
  2. In its place add a Patron’s Lounge with a coffee bar and add 4 offices for the Assistant Library Director, Board of Trustees President, Friends of the Library President and the SPLD Foundation President (each with space for a desk, file cabinet, bookcase and 2 guest chairs)
  3. Move the Young Adult Section to the second floor
  4. In its place expand the Computer Lab Section
  5. Add a Gift Shop or Display near the front door

Second Floor

  1. Children’s Section (Appoximately 4,723 items)
  2. Story Time Room
  3. Middle School Section (Approximately 1,868 items)
  4. Young Adult Section (Approximately 724 items)
  5. Educational Resource Section (Approximately 21 items)
  6. Study Rooms: 4 (used for studying, Zoom meetings, speech pathologist, etc.)
  7. Bathrooms: 2 with 2 stalls each
  8. Janitor Closet
  9. Librarian Work Station (desk area with computer, printer, and copy machine)

Third Floor

  1. Event Room wih full kitchen (double sink, stove, refridgerator, microwave, garbage disposal, dishwasher and an ice maker)
  2. Conference Rooms: 2
  3. Music Lessons/Practice Rooms: 2 soundproof (each with a piano, table, chair)
  4. Research and Archive Room (Approximately 233 items)
  5. Library of Things Room: small kitchen appliances, tools gardening equipment and seeds, electronics, recreation items, etc.
  6. Bathrooms: 2 with 2 stalls each
  7. Janitor Closet
  8. Laundry Room
  9. Librarian Work Station (desk area with computer, printer and copy machine)
  10. Lactation Room – free standing or part of the Women’s Bathroom
