Mission Statement
The Friends of the Spanish Peaks Library District is a nonprofit organization and proudly supports the library’s mission to serve Walsenburg, Gardner, and the surrounding communities in Huerfano County, Colorado. Through fundraising, volunteer efforts, program sponsorships, and infrastructure improvements, the Friends help ensure the library remains a vibrant, accessible resource. The Friends are dedicated to advocating for the entire community, welcoming and representing people of all ages, backgrounds, and walks of life.
Activities
Book Sales:
Book sales are held quarterly (March, June, September, and December) in the SPLD Meeting Room. Exact dates and times will be posted on the Friends of the Spanish Peaks Library District Facebook page and notices posted at all the Huerfano libraries.
Meetings
Friends of the SPLD Monthly Meetings:
The Board meetings are held on the third Sunday every month, and are open to the public. The meeting location is in the SPLD Meeting Room and the meeting time is from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Meeting dates and times are subject to change. You can contact the SPLD at (719) 738-2774 to confirm meetings.
Join the Friends
Individuals can join the Friends Group with a yearly membership:
Under 18 – Free
18 and Over – $10.00
Family – $25.00
Business – $50.00
Non-profit – $35.00
Payment by check (Payable to Friends of the SPLD), cash, or Zeffy online payment
You can also sign up to be a volunteer in events such as the quarterly book sales, assist with meaningful fundraising, and engage in community service.
Donations
Donations can be made by check (payable to Friends of the SPLD), cash, and Zeffy online payment.
All donation amounts are encouraged and appreciated.
